In the person-centred approach, the therapist will help you become your true self (self-actualisation). The therapist will help you to explore your own issues, feelings, beliefs, behaviours and worldview, so you can become more self-aware and achieve change and growth.

In the psychodynamic approach, the therapist will help you access your unconscious thoughts and feelings and process these to help reduce and resolve issues. It focuses on becoming self-aware and understanding the influence of the past on present behaviours, thoughts and feelings.
